This coming weekend, the North Sea Beach Rugby Tournament will take place on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 June. Due to the expected high temperatures and chance of thunderstorms, we want to inform you about the measures we are taking to ensure the safety of all participants, volunteers and visitors.
North Sea Beach Rugby holds an official permit from the Municipality of The Hague to organise this event. The permit process explicitly includes a review of the safety plan, which contains protocols for weather conditions, among other things.
Heat Protocol
Throughout the entire weekend, we will be applying the heat protocol. We ask everyone to take the following into account:
- Drink plenty of water before, during and after matches. A free tap water point is available.
- Make sure you have adequate sun protection (sunscreen, cap/hat, sunglasses). Free sunscreen is also available at the first aid post.
- Seek shade regularly when you are not playing.
- Pay extra attention to young participants and make sure they drink enough.
- Report any complaints such as dizziness, nausea or overheating immediately to staff or first aid.
Tight Match Schedule
Due to the large number of registrations, both days will run on a tight match schedule. Unfortunately, there is very little room to reschedule matches or adjust the programme. We therefore ask all teams to arrive on time at their pitch and to stick to the indicated playing times.
Thunder and Extreme Weather Conditions
The safety of everyone present always comes first. Should there be thunder or other dangerous weather conditions, we will be forced to immediately suspend matches or prevent them from starting. If matches cannot be (fully) played as a result, the organisation may decide to register the relevant match(es) as a draw and process the points accordingly in the standings. This is not an easy decision, but given the circumstances and the full programme, it may be necessary.
Decisions on this will be made based on the current weather situation and safety advice. We ask for your understanding in this regard.
Facilities on Site
- An extra-large tent for shelter from sun or rain.
- First aid post.
- Security personnel present for support and supervision.
- Volunteers and organisation members available throughout the entire weekend for support and information.
Finally
We look forward to a fantastic, sporting and safe rugby weekend. Should there be any changes, we will inform you immediately.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding.
