Beach rugby on the beach of Scheveningen — 18, 19 and 20 June 2027

On 18, 19 and 20 June 2027, the beach of Scheveningen once again transforms into the stage for North Sea Beach Rugby, the largest beach rugby tournament in the Netherlands. Friday is entirely dedicated to clinics for young people; over the weekend, around 200 teams compete for the Dutch Beach Rugby Championship and points in the EBRA Series.

About the Stichting North Sea Beach Rugby

The Stichting North Sea Beach Rugby is an official member of Rugby Nederland, making North Sea Beach Rugby an event recognised by the federation. The foundation is also a member of the European Beach Rugby Association (EBRA). Every year, the foundation organises the North Sea Beach Rugby tournament on the beach of Scheveningen, including the Dutch Beach Rugby Championship and matches in the EBRA Series, and it founded the Dutch National Beach Rugby Team.

Our goal is to make beach rugby accessible to everyone — regardless of age, level, or background. From young players to national team players: everyone is welcome at North Sea Beach Rugby.

This commitment extends beyond the beach: through our project Harde Leerschool, we use rugby to offer young people new opportunities, and we support local rugby initiatives in the region.

Elite sport and young talent

Beach rugby is accessible at every level and for every age. Alongside the elite-level competitions, there are categories for young people (U8 to U18) and a girls' competition, in which the sport's young talent is trained.

The official Dutch Beach Rugby Championship

North Sea Beach Rugby is the official Dutch Beach Rugby Championship. In addition, the Dutch women's and men's teams compete against the best teams in Europe in the EBRA Series. With 16 pitches full of action on the beach, the tournament is one of the most action-packed weekends of the summer for players and spectators alike.

Dutch National Beach Rugby Team

The organisation also founded the Dutch National Beach Rugby Team, which represents the Netherlands in European competitions run by Rugby Europe — serving as our international calling card.

Harde Leerschool: rugby with social impact

Under the name Harde Leerschool, North Sea Beach Rugby uses rugby, coaching and training to offer young people new opportunities — focused on building confidence and social participation. In addition, the organisation supports local rugby initiatives in the region and contributes to the growth of the sport in the Netherlands.

Youth clinics on Friday

On Friday, 18 June 2027, the beach is entirely dedicated to young people. In two sessions, schools from The Hague get an accessible and playful introduction to beach rugby, beach soccer and beach volleyball. The clinics are organised by North Sea Beach Rugby, as part of the Haagse Sportzomer.

North Sea Beach Rugby is made possible in part by the Elite Sport department of the municipality of The Hague. In recent years, The Hague has positioned itself as an elite sports city by the sea, with an active policy to get residents moving.

With 200 teams, 16 pitches and a weekend of beach rugby on the beach of Scheveningen, North Sea Beach Rugby 2027 is the largest beach rugby event in the Netherlands. Register your team or mark the date in your calendar as a spectator.
